GoOooooOOOood Morning Vietnam and Welcome back to MUSITALY for the eighth time.
And now. Tell me. What is Musitaly, exactly? Perfetto. You are the Champion!

#paulwalkerforever
You can listen to your favourite Italian Radio Show for example when you go to work, school, during your workout, anywhere and wherever you want. Otherwise, as soon as you are awake like a “risveglio muscolare”.
What are the two topics of this episode? Well, today is about Rock-Stars and Telephones.
So, let’s start with the first song.
Its title is La Mia Banda Suona il Rock, which means My Music Band plays Rock Music.
This is a very famous Italian song and since I have memories, I have known this song.
I think this song is included in the most played songs on the Karaoke Music Chart.
Vabbe’, Scherzi a Parte, this is a song about music and …it is described in the sense of a universal means of communication that breaks down any kind of boundary reaching places that one man cannot reach.
In this case, the boundary represents the big music labels and the places that an alone man cannot reach, it represents the music that goes everywhere in spite of everything.
It’s interesting to know why despite the great success of this song released in 1979, the same year of my birth, the author of the song stopped singing this song. Feeling a sort of shame. Who knows.
We could ask this question to Ivano Fossati, the author of this song.
He also belongs to the city of Genoa and he has given the city one more reason to be proud of all the talents born there, we mention some such as Fabrizio De André, Gino Paoli, Luigi Tenco, Paolo Vilaggio..
One last thing …this song was released as a cover by the famous Italian singer Laura Pausini in 2006 sung in Italian and Spanish.
Lyric: Ivano Fossati – La mia banda suona il Rock
Part 2: Mina
As usual, Guys, don’t forget to let me know what you think about the music selection via the official hashtag #Musitaly.
Especially for the next song, because today is her day. Today is the day we will officially introduce Mina.
She is like the Queen of Italian Music even today. Although … She has not been shown herself in public since the 23rd of August 1978. Can you believe it?
Just think… Since that year, she has released 37 records up to now. For a total of 72 records released until 2019 and a total of 150.000.000 records sold until 2010 in her career.
Not likes. Not views. Records Sold.
The last album was released in 2019 together with Ivano Fossati. The same guy we listened to a few moments ago. Every single record has been a huge success. Of course.
She is also known as La Tigre di Cremona, the Tiger from Cremona. That is a beautiful city full of art and history located in the north of Italy not too far from Milan.
The city of Cremona is also famous for its long tradition of luthiers. One of the most famous ones is Antonio Stradivari, well known as Stradivarius as per violins, violas, cellos and other string instruments built by members of the Italian family Stradivari.
Anyway, in her long career, Mina has also been a victim of criticism due to her private life. In fact, for a while tv, radio and newspapers have been more interested in her relationship with a man separated from his wife than her career. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why she chose a private life or because of her mediatic exposure. Whoo knows.
Either way, it’s interesting how in recent years around 2021 people are trying to reach the opposite status by sharing every single moment of their life like feeding kids through live streaming pretending to represent a wonderful life.
Vabbe’ this is another story.
The song I chose for you, Beautiful People, is Se Telefonando which we can translate as If I called you, released in 1966.
The song describes the end of a short love story and a woman that would call a man telling him:
If by calling you I could say goodbye for good
I would call you
If I saw you again making sure you didn’t suffer
I would see you again
If looking into your eyes I could tell you it’s enough
I would look at you
But, Mina says, I don’t know how to explain to you that our newborn love is already over.
I know it’s Super Sad but you need to know something else about this song.
The music was composed, orchestrated and directed by Ennio Morricone. I don’t think I need to introduce him to you, guys. Right?
The lyric, instead, was co-written by the Italian David Letterman, Maurizio Costanzo an Italian television host, journalist, screenwriter and film director.
He created the Maurizio Costanzo Show by releasing the first episode in September of 1982, a Talk Show inspired by the American Talk Shows, and it is still one of the most successful Tv Show in Italy in 2021.
Ok, time to listen to the magic voice of Mina with Se Telefonando.
Lyric: Mina – Se Telefonando
Part 3: Marco Masini
Bellissima. This song is Bellissima and I think the next one too.
His name is Marco Masini and he started his career around 1986. I think he worked hard to achieve success.
He is a singer-songwriter, musician and pianist, before winning the Sanremo Festival, New Proposal Edition, he collaborated with a lot of singers such as Raf, Gianni Morandi, Enrico Ruggeri, Umberto Tozzi and many others.
Marco Masini, for some times, has been a victim of something that today we could call cyber-bullying. A kind of shit storm against him because people started thinking he brought misfortune. In fact, for a while, around 2001, he announced that he was terminating his career because of what was happening. But he managed to find a way to bring his career back to success in the best possible way. In fact, he won the edition San Remo Festival 2004 with the song L’Uomo Volante.
The song I chose for you today, however, is Vaffanculo which means Fuck Off, one of the most used Italian swear words.
But, despite the title of the song, it tells all the difficulties encountered by the singer to achieve success. Before becoming a rock star.
Lyric: Masini – Vaffanculo
Part 4: Max Gazzé
I’ll tell you something. I remember that summer when the previous song was released. I was on holiday in a lovely little town near the sea in the South of Italy, Guardia Piemontese also famous because of the song Guardia ‘82 sung by Brunori Sas
And
I remember a boy about 5 years old yelling every morning that word. He found a workaround to say that word to everybody and no one was able to tell him anything because he was just singing. #Genious
And now, speaking of hashtag let’s repeat together all the coordinates to reach and interact with Musitaly:
#cocochosebetter if you don’t like the songs! And don’t forget to tell me why
#cocoyoutheking if you are enjoying them

And … feel free to follow me as well through my personal website cocopraise.com otherwise @cocopraise everywhere.
If you follow both Musitaly and Cocopraise, then I will bring you an original dish of “Spaghetti al Sugo” without Meatballs.
And now, let’s introduce another great Italian artist. I admit it’s another one of my favourites.
His name is Max Gazzè and he is a singer-songwriter and musician. A very talented musician in my opinion.
He started his career abroad between the UK and South of France, then Holland and … finally Italy where he began many collaborations with singers we met during the previous episodes of Musitaly such as Frankie Hi-Nrg and Daniele Silvestri.
He achieved success with the song “Vento d’Estate”, Wind of Summer, sung together with Niccolò Fabi. And let me spoil you something. We will listen to this song in a special edition after the end of the first season of Musitaly.
BTW this time I went for Solito Sesso, Usual Sex. The peculiarity of this song is that the singer sings while on the telephone talking with a woman he meets the same night of the telephone call.
I recommend you watch the video of the song because the ending of the video music is pretty funny.
Anyway, Max Gazzè with Solito Sesso.
Lyric: Max Gazzé – Solito Sesso
Part 5: Young Signorino
Ok… almost at the end and we are going to listen to the last one of the episode.
His name is Young Signorino and he achieved popularity on the internet thanks to the meaningless song called Mmh Ha Ha Ha in 2018.
He is a controversial artist and despite his detractors, Paolo Caputo from Cesena can claim a couple of respectable music collaborations. One of them, just to give you an example, with the talented musician Vinicio Capoosella.
The song I chose to finish this episode about telephones and the Rockstar concept is Rock Star Mai, which means Rock Star Never.
The song is auto-biographical like the Marco Masini song and tells the relation Young Signorino has with popularity. He sings about fake friends you have when you are famous, fake smiles and he also says: This popularity is killing me.
So, the singer found love for a woman as the best escape from this bad feeling:
I die, I look at the ceiling then I look at her and I live again.
Lyric: Young Signorino – Rockstar Mai
Closing
Ok. I am sure that even the Italians don’t know this song very well.
I hope you enjoyed the music selection of this episode.
This song was the last but don’t worry. Musitaly will be back in less than 200 hours.
In the meantime remember that you are Amazing and it is up to you to change this world simply by doing what you love.
Thank you for listening to me
Love You
And … Don’t Forget Me!
Ciao
